Community Impact Officer, Grants and Nonprofits

General Description of Position

The Community Impact Officer, Grants and Nonprofits, plays a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s mission by managing the grants program, fostering nonprofit partnerships, and strengthening community impact. This position is responsible for overseeing the grants process, managing the grants budget, and leading the Grants Committee. The Officer serves as a point of contact for local nonprofits, develops training programs to build nonprofit capacity, and organizes events such as Executive Director Roundtables and the Manager-Leadership Series. Additionally, the Community Impact Officer supports the convening of key stakeholders and ensures the efficient management of the grants database. 

This role requires a collaborative leader dedicated to community development and the long-term success of nonprofit organizations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Grants Leadership and Management

  • Manage the Foundation's Grants Program, including strategies for grant distribution that align with the Foundation’s mission and community priorities
  • Assist nonprofits with technical support and identify opportunities for ongoing education and innovative programming
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of relevant community information and trends
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Community Impact to effectively manage the grants budget, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and in accordance with strategic goals
  • Analyze grant data to identify trends, assess program impact, and recommend strategies for improvement
  • Leverage the grants management database to track applications, reports, and grant outcomes, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information

Nonprofit Capacity Building

  • Serve as a key contact for nonprofit organizations, providing support, guidance, and resources for grant applications and organizational development
  • Build and nurture relationships with nonprofit leaders to ensure effective collaboration and support within the community
  • Develop and implement training programs in partnership with the Director of Community Impact to enhance nonprofit capacity in areas such as grant writing, fundraising, and leadership development
  • Oversee the Manager-Leadership Series, fostering leadership skills and growth within local nonprofit organizations
  • Provide support for nonprofit partners to enhance their organizational effectiveness and sustainability

Stakeholder Engagement and Convening

  • Participate in nonprofit events whenever feasible
  • Organize and facilitate Executive Director (ED) Roundtables, bringing together nonprofit leaders to share insights, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration
  • In partnership with the Director of Community Impact and the Executive Director, convene regular meetings with key community stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, funders, and other partners, to identify opportunities for collective impact and shared resources
  • Plan and coordinate events, workshops, and forums to strengthen relationships and enhance collaboration among community organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, community development, or a related field
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Proven experience in grants management, nonprofit capacity building, and community engagement
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector and the unique challenges faced by local organizations
  • Experience facilitating meetings and events with diverse groups and stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of local community needs and programs
  • Expertise in data analysis and using data to inform decision-making
  • Solid experience with training and professional development for nonprofit organizations or similar groups

Skills & Expertise

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other technology tools
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and changing situations with strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Additional Considerations

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for Foundation events and activities
  • Financial acumen and comfort interpreting financial documents

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling office equipment.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and perform light physical tasks as needed.

Salary and Benefits

  • Starting Salary: $65,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Annual bonus potential
