On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, over 40 local nonprofits joined the Summit Foundation at the Outer Range to rally donor support and help celebrate a culture of philanthropy. The Colorado Gives Day regional Summit Gives campaign raised $634,536 for 81 local organizations through 2,837 donations. The amount is a decrease compared to the all-time record setting 2021 campaign, which saw a generous single donation of $100k.
The Colorado Gives Day campaign began Nov. 1 and culminated on Gives Day on Dec. 5. All donations made to Summit County nonprofits through the Summit Gives Campaign were eligible for a boost from a $1.4 million Incentive Fund that increases the impact of every dollar donated. Although, the campaign culminated on Tuesday donors and community members are encouraged to continue to Give Where They Live 365 days a year. The Colorado Gives/Summit Gives website offers a convenient one stop online donation hub to make it easy to find the type of nonprofit that speaks to your passions and allows you to make multiple or scheduled donations to the Summit County organization who support our community.
The Summit Gives rally hosted by Outer Range Brewing Company provided a little fun and energy to the nonprofits through giveaways and matching organizational grants. Last night’s matching grant winners included High Country Soccer and Summit Historical Society. The event is a great way to motivate the nonprofits who typically raise over 60% of their budget between November and December annually. Fundraising is a crucial part of a nonprofits business and often one that is the hardest in a small town with limited staffing and resources. A special thanks to iFurnish and Creative Cabinetry for covering the fees associated with Colorado Gives Day donations, so that every cent of the donations can help our nonprofits make an impact in the community.
“Our community thrives on a culture of generosity,” stated Suzanne Lifgren, marketing director of the Summit Foundation. “The amount of volunteer time and financial contribution that is required to support our local nonprofits is immense and necessary in order to provide our community rich with arts & culture, sports, educational opportunities, environmental stewardship, and a safety net of health and human services.”
Colorado Gives 365 supports impactful giving every day of the year through ColoradoGives.org, providing easy-to-use fundraising tools for both donors and nonprofits. The site’s goal is to help people discover and support organizations that match their passions and interests every day of the year.
